Yesterday was KT’s birthday. She received from me a footrub with a peppermint pumice cream that Sarah gave me, and two winning scratch-off lottery tickets. We also went to First Watch for lunch after unsuccessfully trying to find croissants earlier in the morning. I shall remedy the croissant issue today.
Everyone appears to be sleeping peacefully at the moment which is very strange for me because I am not accustomed to having any sort of quiet for more than five minutes a t a stretch. I might even finish this cup of coffee entirely uninterrupted. I wonder if I should tempt the fates and attempt another solitary cup.
I just realized that I am a terrible blog host and father as I have not posted any pictures of the lad or lass for some time, which really is too bad for you because they are frickin’ adorable. Really, I don’t know how I do it. Insanely good looking children.
We got a new TV with the help of a benevolent benefactor, AKA Dad while he was visiting. By that I mean it was essentially a birthday gift for KT and I. It is glorious. Seriously, I spit on my old TV. HD can turn even the worst show marginally watchable. I built an antenna from scratch to better pick up the UHF signal. It seems to work very well, though I’ll probably have to build a VHF antenna when the spectrum shifts in 2009. No matter, this cost absolutely nothing except for some pieces of junk I had lying around. This is where I got the plans: here and here. Mine is slightly modified in that I did not include a parabolic reflector because all of the stations in town are within 10 miles. I do need to figure out how to add something that will pick up a little bit of the VHF spectrum because my weakest signal comes from ABC and come February when Lost comes back on it better be working damned well.
KT and I will probably continue her birthday celebration this evening with Sushi dinner courtesy of those winning lottery tickets I mentioned earlier. Maybe we’ll play a little Wii too. Time to go though, my second cup of coffee is getting lonely.
