With the amount of time I’ve spent thinking about coffee, talking about coffee and playing with coffee I figure I should try to consolidate a bit of my efforts. Coffee blog, tech pages for my machine rebuilds? I don’t know. I already have some tasting notes pages up, but I can see that the online social sphere of coffee has been taking off lately and participation can be fun! I guess we’ll see what I can come up with.

Groupon is Awesome

I don’t mean to sound like a shill, but Groupon is awesome. There’s a different Groupon everyday. So far I’ve bought KT and I a weekend away at a nice hotel, several pounds of coffee, some tasty sandwiches and drinks at Coffee Girls, fresh delivered to our door produce, and a few more visits to local restaurants. All for a fraction of the normal price. KT approves. I post this also because if you use my referral link: http://www.groupon.com/r/uu896416 I get $10 to spend on more Groupons.

Groupons are basically group purchased coupons for businesses in your area, and since we like to support local businesses and save money it ends up being a winning proposition for us. I was prompted to write this since someone just used my referral link this morning, so now I have $10 trying to convince me to go buy a discounted round of golf.

I just had a moment of terrible panic and dread. I was thinking about the existence of heaven or any kind of afterlife and I realized there might not be any coffee in the hereafter. There is nothing more terrifying.

New Sheriff in Town

I’ve been lazy and have been recovering from a helacious summer so the writing has not come to me much, nor has anything else besides reading blogs and doing just enough work to stay useful until the bug of inspiration nibbles at my ankles once again.

One thing I have been inspired by though, is the espresso machine I got for my birthday from my delightful Dad. This delightful machine has occupied all of those extra brain cycles (when not in use by the Olympics). I’ve spent far too much time thinking about brewing delicious little drinks. They are delicious too, which surprised me a little considering the cost, which I think just makes it more awesome. Awesome enough that I have one at home and at work now. At work I bought a little set of espresso mugs like these, but mine are a bit more subdued in color. I’ve been brewing a few different Lavazza blends and right now my favorite in the machine is Lavazza Qualita Oro, but that could change at any moment as I’ll try anything, anytime. Well, any time being between one and two pm because that’s the only time I let myself have espresso. Restraint, I am thy master!

A couple of my coworkers have gotten to experience my learning curve. I didn’t kill ‘em, so I guess I’m doing something right / not horribly wrong. Anyhow, I’ve been kicking out some nice drinks with thick tasty crema and excellent flavor.

In other news, Zoey has been continuing her quest to destroy us by sprouting molars. We know this from the screams. Our screams, her screams, we all screams. Every hour, every night. This makes my espresso particularly delicious.
