It has a big monster too, and lots of little ones. If nothing else it was a hell of a lot better than Alien Versus Predator: Requiem which I saw just a couple weeks ago. Though in reality they shared lots of things blowing up and similar endings.

Of course, I was sitting on the edge of my seat the whole time watching Cloverfield, which doesn’t happen too often these days. I was ready though. I’ve been preparing for months and have been keeping up to date with Cloverfield Clues. What is interesting to me is that the viral aspects of the film are really just starting to take off. I’m curious if we’ll see a continuation of the story outside of the theater.

I got my two pairs of glasses in the mail on Friday from Zenni Optical, just short of two weeks from the order date. They look exactly as they do online and while they don’t seem to be the highest quality glasses I’ve ever had, they do seem perfectly adequate for my purposes. The lenses on both seem to be correct and scratch free. I am considering ordering another pair as I miscalculated how tall the lenses are and the are a little short for me. I probably should have measured my existing pair for reference. The frames also needed some significant adjustment to fit my fat head. This is no problem though, all you need is a good, hot hair dryer. Heat the section that needs bending for about 30 seconds and bend by hand. They both fit perfectly now.  I’m pretty happy with my low investment.

The GPS receiver has yet to disappoint as well. I ordered the Holux M1000C from buygpsnow.com. This thing is tiny. Smaller than a credit card and a little more than a quarter inch thick. The device showed up three days after I ordered it which seemed perfectly reasonable for the type of shipping. Device operation is very simple, it has an on off switch and indicates status with three LED lights that flash or do not flash at specific intervals to denote status. It connects via bluetooth to pretty much anything and has worked very well thus far connecting to a Palm TX with Tomtom 6; Google Maps, Blackberry Maps and Yahoo! Go on a Blackberry Curve; and Google Maps on a Sprint Mogul. My definition of very well being that it takes just a few seconds to connect to any of the devices, and takes about ten seconds to find satellites from off to on. So far my favorite combination is using the Tomtom software, the navigation is fast and good. I was also very surprised by the usefulness of finding points of interest quickly using the Yahoo! Go software, especially because it’s a free application. The only glitch I’ve run into so far is that the Tomtom software gets cranky if you turn off the Palm before exiting the application. It fails to see the GPS receiver and you then have to do a soft reset of the Palm to reinitialize.
