This morning you slept late and I called in sick to work, though I really did feel kinda sick on account of the no sleep last night via screaming daughter and the intense back pain that comes apparently from too much Mario Kart Wii and laying bed like an idiot. Six years ago today we were in Kansas City for a brief visit during which we legally bound ourselves together under the eyes of the law in Missouri. Of course given that Kansas City, MO doesn’t have an accredited primary school system I wonder if the license is even valid. Regardless, I’ve been married to you in my heart for just over ten years.
By the way, I think those earrings you bought for yourself do make an awesome and beautiful gift, just as I think that Mario Kart is one of the best anniversary presents I’ve ever bought for myself. I think we’ve gotten to the point where we know that the best presents are the ones that we know we want. I’m at least just happy that you stick around. Even happier that you have yet to abandon me with the screaming banshees.

I need to put a picture up now and then to help offset the already dreary surroundings. This is an African Violet that was on the brink of it’s demise that I nursed back to health. If it’s happy, I’m happy.
Easily amused I guess, but I plugged a laptop in to my Panasonic Plasma, TH-42PX75U for the googlers using an HDMI to DVI cable. It recognized the TV natively but not at the resolution I’d like. It started at 720 x 450 or some such, though theoretically it’s supposed to display 1024 x 768. Using powerstrip I got the TV to accept 1280 x 720 with just a little overscan. Right now we’re watching Fringe on Fox.com and i have to admit, it looks awesome! Better than over the air in some ways, as we can pause it, rewind and watch whenever we want with just a couple ads.. Quality is just as good as OTA as well. Maybe better since it’s easier to control the color profile.
For some reason ABC.com streaming works for crap. I assume because this particular device is running an Intel 945 chipset. Bummer though, I’m sure there’ll be lots of Lost episodes missed due to kiddo’s bedtimes.
Next I need to find some better ways of controling the laptop remotely. I have an ATI All in Wonder controller, but it’s pretty clunky. I use Logmein is also, but it seems to cause a bit of a performace hit that causes some video wonkiness. Maybe I just need to invest in a little bluetooth keyboard. Maybe Synergy will work?
Working on KT’s new theme and ads killed most of my blogging mojo for a it and I didn’t feel like even looking at mine after looking at that much code. Went to Phoenix last weekend to help my parents get settled into their new place. It’ll be nice to get the rest of the family out there too, especially when there’s more to sit on than patio chairs. At the very least I didn’t break too much of their stuff before I left, though I didn’t get to go swimming either as they kept me too busy.
Fall is getting started here already and the leaves are starting to fall out of the trees and it’s 61 degrees right now. 6″ of rain the other day made our basement a little damp and I spent a fair bit of time down there the last couple days. My sinuses are now very angry with me as they don’t like the moldy stuff and I’m very angry with me on account of all the crap that I’ve been leaving around the basement that got nice and wet and need to be thrown out. Previous owners painted the floor of the basement with some paint that flakes right off and when it gets wet down there I have to clean it up lest it clog the drain. Bad things happen when the drain gets clogged.
The fellers from Phoenix are coming for a visit next week. I’ll be taking the week off too, which is great because I need a vacation. In the meantime why don’t all of you click on KT’s ads if nothing else, but to offset the amount of time it took me to figure out how to get them on there.
